We are pleased to see Koelis featured in Les Echos, one of France’s leading business newspapers, in an article looking at our journey, our roots in Grenoble and the next chapter for our technologies in prostate cancer care.
Published as Koelis celebrates its 20th anniversary, the article by journalist Florian Espalieu takes readers behind the scenes of the company’s development over the past two decades, from a university spin-off in Grenoble to an international medtech company whose technologies are now used in 50 countries.
It also highlights an important milestone for Koelis: in 2025, the company reached €25 million in revenue and returned to profitability, after several years of strong growth. Today, Koelis has around 120 employees, with the United States accounting for approximately 45% of its activity.
Growing internationally, while staying connected to Grenoble
Although Koelis has grown significantly over the years, Grenoble remains an important part of the company’s identity.
Les Echos highlights the local ecosystem that has supported Koelis since its beginnings, as well as the strong links we maintain with the scientific and medical community. Our collaboration with researchers at TIMC, together with Grenoble University Hospital (CHU Grenoble), continues to play an important role in developing new technologies for prostate cancer care.
At the same time, Koelis is continuing to expand internationally, with the United States, Japan and Europe among its key markets, while looking towards new opportunities in other regions.
From diagnosis to targeted treatment
The article also looks at the evolution of Koelis’ technology beyond diagnosis.
Building on our expertise in image-guided prostate procedures, we are now developing Targeted Microwave Ablation (TMA), a focal therapy approach designed to precisely target and treat prostate cancer lesions.
The technology is currently being evaluated in a clinical study involving 176 patients across six centres in France and Belgium. It represents an important new step in Koelis’ ambition to support physicians across more stages of the prostate cancer care pathway, from precise diagnosis to targeted treatment.
For us, this is an exciting moment in Koelis’ story. Twenty years after the company was founded in Grenoble, we are continuing to develop technologies with the same goal: helping physicians make prostate cancer care more precise and personalized for patients around the world.
The next few years will bring new challenges and opportunities, with Koelis aiming to further develop its international presence and continue investing in innovation. The company is targeting €100 million in revenue by 2030, while continuing to grow its team.
Thank you to Les Echos for highlighting Koelis, our Grenoble roots and the people behind our technology.
