2nd Look Fusion
See beyond biopsy procedure

What is 2nd Look technology for prostate biopsy?

2nd Look fusion accurately superimposes previous sessions to the current procedure in order to target biopsy localization according to previous 3D cartography.

Compatible with both transrectal and transperineal procedures, the physician can follow the cancer evolution and decide accordingly the most adapted solution for patient care.

How does it work?

first look fusion biopsy with MRI lesion, negative biopsy core and a positive biopsy core
second look fusion biopsy ciomplementary biopsy diagnosis

This is a 3D mapping of a 1st look transrectal biopsy where positive cores are detected on a lesion from the MRI, but in an unexpected location within the prostate that was not originally visible on the MRI.

Because a suspicious positive core was detected in an unexpected location from the first biopsy, in this 2nd look re-biopsy, the physician now has detected an anterior lesion. Now the physician can have a better understanding for treatment and care management.

Why switch to 2nd Look?

Complementary diagnosis

Rebiopsy of previously explored areas and biopsy of unexplored areas to gain knowledge and clarify your diagnosis with precision.

Active surveillance strategy

Rebiopsy the tumor location to monitor disease progression and initiate appropriate management at the appropriate time.

Preoperative treatment planning

Use a new biopsy to accurately delineate the area eligible for treatment and biopsy unexplored locations to ensure the absence of other foci.

Post-treatment follow up

Perform a repeat biopsy of the treated area to confirm the effectiveness of the treatment.

Dr Abreu,

USC Norris Cancer Center, USA

” The organ and needle tracking system is unique. It provides tracking the reality of the prostate and the needle, therefore showing the actual trajectory of the needle targeting. Also, the free-hands capability provides all possible degrees of freedom which is important for targeting any location in the prostate: anterior targets, extreme apex, extreme base, SV, lateral, medial, etc……

“KOELIS Trinity™ is the only platform that combines ease of use, accuracy and ergonomics. Other platforms may meet one or two of these important aspects, but none can match the KOELIS platform on all three fronts “

Dr Kamoi

” In three years’ time with KOELIS Trinity® we have doubled our MR activity and have achieved high cancer detection rates, while decreasing the number of unnecessary biopsies and consequently the overall cost of Prostate Cancer diagnosis in our facility “

Dr Baco

“We have demonstrated high efficacy of MRI prostate combined with elastic MR-TRUS in the detection and characterization of index lesions, wherever they are located. Only a few biopsy cores are necessary to establish the right diagnosis. We use a 3-D registered biopsy locations for patient information and treatment recommendation. In patients selected for focal treatment, we use the spatial biopsy registration for treatment planning

Dr Olivares

” I performed the first Transperineal template fusion biopsy using KOELIS Trinity® with the recent release of an updated grid. The new grid is very easy to attach to the probe and is useful to avoid movements and the possibility of getting lost of the exact location of the needle tip. The software gives you accurate information after the fusion guiding the better way to reach the lesion. The patient evolved excellent, without pain or perineal discomfort. I think that in the near future more prostate Biopsy will be performed safer using transperineal approach, without the risk of infection “
