The clinical superiority of targeted biopsy over systematic biopsy is clearly highlighted. Koelis Trinity® delivers unmatched MRI fusion technology, notably thanks to its unique OBT technology, which tracks the prostate in real time to compensate for patient movement and prostate deformation, ensuring highly accurate fusion throughout the procedure.
The introduction of specific codes for the transperineal biopsy approach reflects the reduced infection risks associated with this technique. While Koelis Trinity® stands out for its versatility, it is a natural ally of the transperineal approach. Its 3D guidance and OBT Fusion® technology overcome the technical complexity of this access route, securing the urologist’s gesture and enabling surgical-level precision when targeting even the most anterior lesions.
The new CCAM nomenclature finally acknowledges the technical complexity and added value of targeted biopsies. Koelis technology allows healthcare institutions to fully align their clinical practice with this new reimbursement framework, thereby securing revenues associated with innovative medical procedures.
Grenoble, January 23, 2026 – Prostate cancer management in France is entering a historic new phase. With the introduction of new codes within the Common Classification of Medical Procedures (CCAM), the French National Health Insurance now formally recognizes and rewards the clinical superiority of image-fusion targeted biopsy, while placing strong emphasis on the transperineal approach. For Koelis, a pioneer in precision biopsy, this regulatory evolution validates a technological vision embodied for more than 15 years by its Koelis Trinity® platform.
Previously constrained by a single reimbursement rate, prostate biopsy procedures are now being revalued to reflect technological innovation. The new codes specifically recognize digital fusion between MRI and ultrasound—an act that Koelis technology has elevated to the highest level of precision through its patented elastic fusion.
“This CCAM update sends a strong signal to the French urology community. By distinguishing digital fusion procedures, the National Health Insurance confirms that targeted biopsy is no longer an option, but an essential standard for reliable diagnosis,”
says Antoine Leroy, CEO and Co-founder of Koelis.
One of the major advances of this new nomenclature is the higher valuation granted to the transperineal approach (€189.41 compared with €167.24 for transrectal digital fusion). This method, which dramatically reduces the risk of infectious complications, lies at the heart of Koelis’ expertise.
The Koelis Trinity® platform stands out through its unique versatility:
Full adaptability: enabling urologists to perform both transrectal and transperineal procedures with the same level of precision.
Intuitive guidance: its 3D mapping and organ-tracking technology (OBT Fusion®) removes technical barriers associated with the transperineal route, making the procedure safer and more reproducible for clinicians.
For urologic surgeons, the recognition of targeted biopsy by the National Health Insurance represents a decisive shift toward a results-driven clinical practice. By removing barriers to the adoption of fusion technology and the transperineal approach, these new codes allow physicians to practice with greater confidence, supported by indisputable diagnostic accuracy.
